The day was fun but I didn’t get what I expected. But anyway…
It was Saturday and so people are expected to run to the malls as refuge in this summer time. So that doesn’t exempt me. I ate lunch and saw a lot of people although I was able to easily find a place where I can settle and eat. I ordered food and I ate while contemplating on things and staring at people that goes here and there. They looked so free from the problems of the world. They looked so fine as if there’s nothing wrong with them although I didn’t know if there was really.
I’ve never been to the arcade for quite some time so I found myself walking towards that noisy yet interesting place. Children and young at hearts play their favorite games expecting to at least win in a computer mediated battle. They have to win for them to reach a level higher. Yes they usually win but after every game comes the harsh truth of reality—no buttons to release special skills. They only have their God given natural abilities.
A group of children suddenly came into view. They all wore the same shirts so I curiously read what’s written. It was actually an initiative by one of the infantry batallions here in Davao. They brought the group of children to let them experience things that they don’t have in their dwelling place. The children were actually members of the indigenous peoples of the city. They were all wearing IDs and I was able to read one. That kid was a member of the Bagobo tribe. They all looked overwhelmed and excited with the things around them. I suddenly realized something upon seeing the faces of those children. I am lucky enough to experience things that I sometimes regret of experiencing. Those children haven’t experienced how it is to be in the city and an experience like that will forever remain in their minds. And when they come back to their place, they will happily share the things they have seen.
I was planning to watch a movie but I didn’t want to watch alone. So I just walked around the cinemas and checked the next batch of movies. Most of them I think are really interesting. Then I suddenly formed a theory inside my head. No matter how hard life is, people will still look for ways so they can fulfill their craving. One example is the craving to watch a movie. Movie tickets nowadays are not the same as before. They are expensive now than what we used to have before. But I still see a lot of people lining up to buy tickets.
I walked towards where I had to get a ride. I was walking and it was hot but it didn’t matter. As I was walking I saw this kid at the age of 5 maybe on board an immobile motorcycle. It was parked outside a shop. I think he was waiting for his father. Well, the kid looked so happy. He seemed very free. Well that’s because he’s just a kid. He still has to experience a lot of things so he would become a strong person. I hope that that kid would grow up as how his parents want him to be.
Life is very beautiful if we only look at the brighter side. Children are the best examples. Like what a certain song says,
“in the eyes of a child, there is joy, there is laughter”. It’s only people who make the world sad because of their greedy aspirations. But that is human nature. We can’t change that fact. What we can do is to become sensitive and be happy. We must as well maintain a positive outlook so our future will be bright. But the question is, which is more delicious, cookies and cream or rocky road ice cream? Why? Hahahaha…
